National Beauty Tools Sharpening Guild

 

          

      Larry, Linda and Dennis Brooks have chosen to take sharpening education and recognition for sharpeners to
an even higher level by including certification on all of the tools used in the beauty and pet grooming industry.
As a result on March 1, 2009 they founded the N.B.T.S.G. (National Beauty Tool Sharpeners Guild)

    The 3rd annual N.B.T.S.G. Convention will be held on September 25 – 27th, at the Renaissance St. Louis
Airport Hotel.  We have a block of rooms set aside at the rate of $89.00 per night when you mention the
N. B. T. S. G. convention. Call 314-429-1100 for reservations. Rooms are limited, so call early. The Renaissance offers free airport shuttle.

   This convention will be host to the largest variety of trade vendors of the year. Please visit the vendor
booth’s to take advantage of the special sales they have to offer you!

St. Louis proven to be an excellent location so we will be there for the third time in 2011.   In order to maintain
Guild status recognition, members must re-certify every three years. The ever-changing beauty tool
industry deems it necessary to offer continuing education and certification with the leaders in their respective
fields.  This will assure the sharpeners clients that the N.B.T.S.G. is continually recognizing sharpeners that
want to stay on top of their field.

The National Beauty Tool Sharpeners Guild is a guild open to all sharpeners using any type of equipment by any manufacturer.  The purpose is to recognize a sharpener’s skill in one or all of the listed fields of sharpening. 

           What are the advantages of attending the N.B.T.S.G. Convention you ask?

·        Continuing education on all the latest techniques by leaders in the industry.

·        Having the opportunity to network with sharpeners that excel in their fields.  Some of the most valuable
information I have received was networking at seminars.

·        Self-satisfaction in knowing that you are as good a sharpener as you think you are.

·        You will be able to market yourself as a Guild Apprentice, Guild Member, Master or Grand Master Sharpener.

·        Visit with vendors from all over the country and take advantage of their special sales on their equipment and supplies.

·        Equipment manufactures will be available to answer questions.

·        Judging is done by certified Master Sharpener’s.

 

The 2011-certification categories are:

·        Beauty Shears and Thinners

·        Clipper Blades

 

The different levels of Guild Members are:

 

Guild Member Apprentice: This is a sharpener that did not achieve their goal as a Guild Member in the fields chosen,
but will be recognized as a Guild Member Apprentice.

Guild Member: Is a sharpener that has achieved status in the fields chosen.

Master Sharpener Guild Member: Is a sharpener that has achieved Master Sharpener status in each of the field’s chosen.

Grand Master Sharpener Guild Member: Has achieved Master Sharpener status in all of the fields offered. 

     This convention and certification will be held in St. Louis, Mo, at the Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel.  The event
dates are September 25th – 27th.   

     This year we have planned a dinner at the Bissell Mansion Restaurant and Dinner Theatre.  This is a 4-act participatory comedy murder mystery presented in between a four-course dinner.  Dinner will consist of an assortment of appetizers, salad, entree choices are NY strip steak, chicken parmesan or baked fish with almondine sauce served with potatoes and a vegetable, chocolate mousse, 2 glasses of white house wine with dinner, coffee, or tea.  You can check their website out at www.bissellmansiontheatre.com.  If you have never attended a Murder Mystery Theatre Dinner, they are VERY entertaining!  Please try to make arrangements to attend it will be well worth your time.  This is also a great networking opportunity.  Cost includes tax and gratuity.
